SICK....again!

So this time I was blessed with strep throat. Besides having a throat so sore it was agony to swallow, I had severe body aches, chills, night sweats and ZERO strength. It was quite a challenge to keep my kids entertained and keep the household going (although I did no laundry or any type of cleaning for 3 days).

No exercise of any kind for a week. Just REST, which was okay by me! There was no way in hell I would have even considered even walking any sort of distance.

Back to the gym today (thank god for antibiotics)! My cardio SUCKED. I couldn't even get through a mile of running (very disappointing for me). I forgot to charge my ipod, and my energy level was sad. BUT....for some reason, my strength training was fabulous!!

- 3 sets of 10 : Leg Extension 100 lbs, Hip Adduction 180 lbs, Hip Abduction 150 lbs, Back Extension 200 lbs
- 3 sets of 5: Leg Press 220 lbs
I also did 3 sets of 15 Bicep curls (with bar bell) 40 lbs
- 3 sets of 15 Triceps 25lbs (lying with back on floor), lat pull downs, shoulders, etc.

I'm going to try running again tomorrow.

Outside

Ahhhhh.....finally.....a run outside in the beautiful, crisp air! I think the temp was around 4ÂșC, which to me is close to ideal. Although I had a decent sleep the night before, I felt like I was dragging my arse for the first 3 k. Soooooo.....I made a pit stop at Starbucks for a shot of espresso. It took about 10 minutes of running after that to kick in. Felt really good for the rest of the route!

9k - 48 minutes - 8.3 m/m - 633 calories. It was a very comfortable run, a conversation during wouldn't have been out of the question.

I plan on doing 13k or so this Saturday. I was volunteering at the Milton Santa Claus Parade last Sunday and we used golf carts to get around, so I got to see areas of Milton (old Milton) I've never seen before. I want to take a run through those streets for a little sight seeing. If anyone has ran in Milton, they would consistently say it's kind of boring.

Sick

Well.....I have been off from exercising for a week now because I was away and then got sick. The exercise withdrawals are kicking in!!!!!

I'm giving myself one more day of "rest" (do you actually rest when you have two kids under 5???), then I will be back at it on Monday.

My goal is to get outside for a few runs this week when I don't have my kids and continue to run on the treadmill when I have them (as part of my workout routine, usually 5-7km). I have CPR & First Aid all next weekend, and from what I can remember, CPR is a workout!!

I hope everyone is staying away from the flu that's going around!

November.....ain't it lovely?

November is my least favourite month of the year. No leaves on the trees, overcast, damp and cold. The gray month. I have a very busy schedule, so I'm sure it will distract me from all that!

I did a BODYPUMP class at Goodlife yesterday. It's total body strength training using bar bells. Very interesting!! I'm a little sore today. I don't like doing classes, so I just absorbed the workout to use by myself at my own leisure. Yeah....I'm not a workout buddy type person.

My running has slowed down quite a bit from when I was training for the half. Two days ago I did 10k, and yesterday just did 1 mile (after the class). No run for me today, but back at it again on Thursday.

So, there's a wee update on what I've been up to!

Team in Training

At last! The photo I have been waiting for!

I finally got to meet Bick from Team in Training. She was a major motivator while I was training and fundraising and it was lovely to put a face to the name!

Finally.....some photos!

So now that I've had a few minutes to get some photos of the Scotiabank Half Marathon up....here they are at long last! I am still waiting to receive a photo from Team in Training.

Enjoy!

Nothin'

I got nothin'.

Took a week off to do absolutely no running. I have been running all summer religiously, so I needed a break. Back at it tomorrow though!

Must....go......to.....gym!
